I was having a look at this piece also. The blade is quite nice. I agree that the turquoise seems like a later addition and quite out of place for this item. The blade is lovely. I have seen this type of twist core in some Malaysian/Indonesian blades.

Im inclined to agreewith Rick, that the turquoise looks very out of place and is probably a later addition
My guess as to origin is definately Sumatra/Aceh,the knife reminds me of a dagger sized sikim. |
