As far as I know the Gayo people weren't that rich and therefore they didn't use the gold as the Aceh people did.

Here an image of the Leiden museum piece, and the drawing in the Fischercatalogue.
This one has also a brass decoration with enamel.

I hoped that peurise would end up with you! BTW, I do wonder how many of the rattan peurise once had such a strong rawhide enhancement - did you had a peek under the fabric of your other examples?

Hello Kai,

Yes it is a beauty! Wasn't going to collect peurises, but somehow they all came by accidently. Now I like them very much!
PS. none of the others have such strong leather piece beneath the stars.

Yes the handle is from hippo ivory.
