Ben, I am not sure that it's a crowit, couldn't it just as well be a kembang kacang? On the handle which one in Sumatra do you mean? Willem, on the cross marks they also are found in other regions, f.i. Sulawesi. But I agree that they are common in Sumatra (nice marks on your example!). The ferrule, that looks a bit Filipino, is also confusing? And the "whale-shaped" handle? Arjan, I recognise some traits on the top klewang in the Spirit of Wood book. So I have checked with a couple of collectors familiar with Kelantanese klewang but they thought it came from Sumatra or Java. I have a couple of Malaysian klewang and parang but this one doesn't have the same feeling when I compare them with this X-klewang.
