Trumbash info request

thank first of all for accepting me in your forum. I collect African white weapons from the horn of Africa (Ethiopian and Somali). I have now found blades gaps further south of which I am poorly informed. I liked having an opinion as a date on this trumbash and its possible construction date. Thanks Oriano

Welcome to the forum Oriano!

I am not an expert for weapons from Central Africa but I can give you some material for reading!

For your piece I would guess 1930 or later. A nice piece!

Forget to mention, I would clean the edges, look to the first provided thread, they has been polished originally and rust in any form isn't good for a blade, corrosion is active, it's not patina. Oil the wood when possible, it's care for the piece and will preserve it for future generations!

The suitable strategy also depends on the climate: If you experience spells of high humidity, boiled linseed oil (and other similar natural oils/formulations) will promote growth of fungus.

If storage conditions can't be reliably controlled, I'm not sure what would be the best strategy under such environmental settings...
