That's a nice Thai sword! You know, my grandfather's family from my mother are soldiers. I heard they are from a long line of soldier, even my grandfather was a soldier during WW II. His uncle was the king's soldier inside the palace. I think he has a title of Paya...I think that's equivalent of commandant, I'm not quite sure, though. Maybe when go back to Thailand, I could find out if any of them have some Thai sword antiques, which I might offer to buy, being American money is so expensive, that would be no problem.

The blade and fitting are not very old.
The marks indicate the smith or smithing family where the blade was forged. They looks very familiar for me though. But I can't recall the smith name ![]() |
