Blade Identification
I have seen similar blades somewhere on this site but cannot find them and cannot remember the name.
It is 23 inches long http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a173/Alan62/a111.jpg Thanks for any help |
Looks like a dha to me. Possibly a Chinese dao, but I don't think so.
Got some pics of the entire sword? |
This is the one

It's a modern (late 20th century) Thai darb/

Thanks Andrew
I remembered seeing them before but just couldn't remember the name |
That's a nice Thai sword! You know, my grandfather's family from my mother are soldiers. I heard they are from a long line of soldier, even my grandfather was a soldier during WW II. His uncle was the king's soldier inside the palace. I think he has a title of Paya...I think that's equivalent of commandant, I'm not quite sure, though. Maybe when go back to Thailand, I could find out if any of them have some Thai sword antiques, which I might offer to buy, being American money is so expensive, that would be no problem. :D

The blade and fitting are not very old.
The marks indicate the smith or smithing family where the blade was forged. They looks very familiar for me though. But I can't recall the smith name  . |
