Here is another treasure I found as a result of my recent move.

All wrought iron, handmade, and old, I would judge it to be mid 19th century, give or take. I picked it up from the same source and at the same time as the sai, or "hairpin" I posted recently.

This is a type of "fist load weapon" it seems to be a variant of the yawara which is a short stick that fits in your hand, long enough that the ends stick out when a fist is wrapped around it. There are several other Japanese / Okinawan fist load weapons such as the tekko and suntetsu.

That's a cool thing, but look out carrying it. I bet it's considered knucks for law enforcement purposes...

Sure!

I think this is the right way to hold it for use. An old girlfriend who competed in martial arts/weapons in China years ago held it like this, but I'm sure it could be wielded in several different ways if necessary, depending on the use.

Yes, a Chinese friend who was second in her age/weight class in the nation (China) in Wushu weapons drill liked it a lot.

I've never seen another like it.
