This is a Bugis-like keris, not a Bugis keris. To find the answer to your questions, perhaps you should try to ask the makers, who are probably still producing these Bugis-like kerises now.

The pamor is too refined and complex for a Bugis blade... there are Bugis and Bugis influence blades wth excellent examples of pamors.. notable those from Palembang,Trenganu & Sumbawa... but i believe this is far too refined and does not give a feel of a bugis blade... This blade may also be missing a ganjar... |

in my opinion this wood called: "afzelia xylocarpa"
Text from the internet: (Afzelia wood can have incredible figure, and the most outstanding and rare is the xlay figure . It looks like raised alligator skin, which really shows best when the surface is very highly polished. No other wood figure looks quite like it, and it is very hard to get, being only a tiny percentage of the afzelia wood available.) |

Should I have been mistaken in my initial asessment about the missing ganjar... may we be given a look at the base of the ganjar... the the form of the sekar cicak... would be a good indicator...
