Default A zweihander...

Hello everyone,
I would like to show you this two-handed flamberge sword supposedly dating from 1600.

It's being sold on a website for several thousand euros more than 5 ....🙃
It's a specialist seller, and the other items the sell seem high-quality and authentic,
but this one looks recent or 19th century to me.
I'm telling you all this because I got a sword identical to this one for much, much less. Even for a copy, it's a very good price! I just have to go get it. And it still looks a little older than this one.
Do you think this one could really be from 1600 and be as well preserved ? It looks too basic to me, and the leather is suspiciously new.

I never would buy it, it is too flawless for an age of more than 400 years!

Not the first suspect item I've seen from that source.

Blade appears to be too short. Thought it may be cut down but the taper supports the length being the original length.

The taper on a flamberg blade is far too great and the actual tip of the blade is absurdly tiny. Other elements of the hilt don't match. It is just wrong. the leather on the grip is obviously a replacement, though that could be someone's genuine attempt at restoration. In short: don't touch it is my advice.

Default zweihander

this is a no brainer and very easy to see that its not original, ludicrous an abomination to the real thing. Looking for originals under 5 k is inviting yourself for disaster , its like wanting to buy a rolex for 500 usd.

Yes from Germany,

that's like buying your copy? of Rolex in a watch-jeweller's shop in Europe but pay for a genuine one
( not on the street in Thailand ...)
That's why i submit the thread...

All I can say is that when I first came across this dealer (I was searching for a specific type of sword on google), I was initially delighted to find them - like I usually am when I can window shop - but then I put them on my blacklist the same day after browsing their stock. Almost all the items I looked at a little more closely seemed off. I don't think this is an innocent mistake.
