Default unknown axe/ tool??

I was wondering what this item is! Is it a tool or weapon?

Interesting piece, Eftihis.
Maybe this is a tool. I take it that, if this was a weapon, some kind of battle axe, its back end should be pointy. But being a tool, is a well refined one, with clear makers marks in both sides.
But these are only conjectures; let us see if some member comes in with better news.

Bricklayer's hammer. Also called a stonemason's hammer. or geologist's pick.

I have one sitting around that I bought to mount as a warhammer. Need to grind the chisel to a point first.

Yes, Bricklayer's hammer as Timo says.

The chisel-end is for cutting bricks down to length for corners and such.
We had a couple 'back home' as well.

I'm thinking...Should take a grinder to it and make it into a war pick +1 to the zombie apocalypse arsenal.
