Turkish powder flask, silver
Found in the depth of the internet, i proudly present this silver powder flask.
I guess it is Turkish production and around 200 years old. Except the steel spring, the brass fishes and the glass-drip, the flask is made from massive silver with a tiny bit golden decoration. Unfortunately some glass decoration got lost during the decades. One of the lost colors was red. I'm very impressed from the cord, it is a silver wire-wove and still in a very good and almost undamaged condition. The mechanism is fully functionable after around 200 years. Both caps are safely locked in place. I hope, the powder flask is good enough for this sophisticated forum and some comments. I’m looking for other examples of this glass-drip technique. Until now my internet research was fruitless. Best wishes, Roland Last edited by Roland_M; 4th February 2016 at 06:09 PM. |

Hi Roland.
What a beautiful and complete flask! WOW!!! Yes, Ottoman. Has a Persian look about it. The silver and enamel make for some of the most beautiful items. And the shoulder cord is as nice as the flask itself. An interesting feature is the hinged lid on the large end to facilitate filling the flask with powder. Never seen one designed like that. Very cool. What a great piece. Thanks for Posting. Rick. |
