Interesting Indian Weapon for comment
Hi Everyone,
I thougt that some of you may be interested in this weapon. The overall length out of scabbard is 26.5 ins, the recurved wootz blade is 11 ins long x 1 ins wide, the length of the concealed wootz blade is 10.75 ins x 0.375 wide. Both blades are double edged and the whole thing is very well made but there are no marks or inscriptions. It reminds me of a Gajkati but does not appear as heavy bladed. Your comments would be appreciated. Miguel. |

The blade looks like it is pattern welded, not wootz.

That's what I thought. I think that because it is more slender than the normal Bhuj is what appealed to me. Miguel |

I am pretty sure that its original as I purchased it around 30 odd years from a respected dealer who is still in business. Thanks for sharing your photos they look great and are what I always thought the Bhuj to be. Miguel |

Thanks for the link. My item is very similar apart from its blade being more slender, makes me wonder whether it was made for a very young man or a female warrior or is that just wishful thinking on my part. Miguel |

You may well be right I don't have sufficient expertise to differentiate between all the different patterns in the steel, perhaps I should have said watered. Miguel |
