Patisthanaya?
Hi,
I've got that spearhead recently and I'm wondering if it is a singhalese patishanaya. Any comments? Thank you in advance! |

THE SIZE OF THE SPEAR HEAD AND THE PRESENCE OF PAINTED DESIGNS ON THE SHAFT WOULD HELP TO DETERMINE IF IT IS A PATISTHANAYA. THE DESIGN AND DIFFERENT METALS USED ON THE BLADE DO LOOK SIMULAR TO WHAT IS SEEN ON PHIA'S BUT THIS SORT OF WORK WAS LIKELY USED IN OTHER COUNTRIES AS WELL. THE FORM AND WORKMANSHIP DO LOOK LIKE WORK FROM CEYLON BUT THERE IS NOT A REAL CLINCHER TO BE SURE WITH THE INFORMATION CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.
WHERE EVER ITS FROM IT IS A NICE ONE |

Thank you Vanadoo! I would assume that the throat piece is missing, besides the coloured staf.
