Default CHEAP BORNEO SWORD ?

This one was the subject of a thread by Robert coleman on the 6th Feb, entitled " Just ended on Ebay"
Kronckew left a comment on it about " mandauman getting a good deal"

The thread was really about the problems bidding that day and the impending knife ban by epray on " We Brits "

I must admit to being somewhat embarrassed about winning it at such a low price. All I did was put on a reasonable bid on and sit back. I think mine must have been the only bid that got recognised on this item.

Anyway, I have since overcome said embarrassment and as we cannot buy or sell weapons anymore on epray I suppose it does not matter who knows that I am Mandauman ( look at what I buy now and you will only see my other passions:- books, music and antique oil lamps )

So, here it is. Very crude and made for everyday use. It does not look particularly old.
I suggest Borneo as a place of origin but am open to other suggestions.

The hilt IMO is the most interesting part of it.
The green paint on the scabbard is unusual and yes the green wire is genuine green wire.

All comments welcome

Regards
Royston

Nice sword mandauman

I would say Iban / Sarawak.
More or less for every day use. Love the green wire.
Did it come from Ebay UK ?

Michaels example I believe also came from the UK.
4 years ago I first saw it on a fair in Antwerpen where some British traders attended. Think it musthave made its wayto the mainland than.
