Default New Mini Lantaka

K Pasta, Dudes?

Thought I would share my latest trade/acquisition. It is a mini lantaka that is 15.5 inches and 23 inches with the wooden handle. The bands on it are rattan, all with patina. I am not sure if it is Moro or Borneo, unlike my other lantaka that is Moro without question. Rare to have the rattan and bamboo (at bottom) bands on one.

Enjoy

Sweet Jose !!
Wouldn't you just love to put a light charge of black powder in it and give it a voice again ?

I know I would ....

I love the idea of "BIG BANG" theory.

Jose, that is a really neat Lantaka! You even got the wooden arm! BIG congrats!

I would not go more than a light charge IF you fire it at all and certainly not any kind of projectile!

Looks awesome, and somehow familiar! Fire it???!!...not while I'm around. I hate rattan splinters.

Congrats on a lovely, and true, conversation piece.

Many thanks friends!

No plans to light - want to keep the "big bang" to a theory.

Vandoo - the Moro lantaka is nearly 1/2 the length overall an more elaborate with okir. This one is plainer. What is nice is both have been fired and are correct, not fakes.

I wanted to bring this thread back up again because I am having problems determining if this is Brunei/Borneo or Moro.

Any help would be of benefit.
