Plus, either I'm missing something (I'm totally out of my area, here), the pics are inverted, or the gun is made for a left-handed shooter...

Not looking for an appraisal just some kind of value but I understand.

The Jezail is a left hand version.

Dom, What books do you suggest looking into that speak about the Afghan Jezail or the Sindh jezail? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Going from left to right and top to bottom I can decipher "Hamid Abud" but that is only part of the top line and I cannot seem to get the rest. Any help once again is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Patsy,
I think I'm seeing a date: 1204 (the 4 is a bit indistinct... might be a 6)
I believe that would equate to: 1790 Gregorian.
Which would fit perfectly with Doms estimation of age for the piece.
Its a lovely gun.
Can we see a picture of the whole thing?

Regards
Gene

Hi

I didn't get the translation completly, because it's "farsi" language
Arabic alphabet, but not Arabic language
it's little bite like a rebus ... words are in all directions

up the lign
- 1207 either 1792 Gregorian
- MOHAMED
- ABAD could be a name
- the left part it's illegible

down the lign
- CIRKAR (I thought in farsi) "country"
- KHALKHAN either KhalKhan - Badakhshan Afghanistan
Badakhshan (Persian: بدخشان - Badakhshān) is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan

all what is in above must be corrected and approved by a Persian or Patchou reader
