I guess that the basket may be a real scabbard. Also agree that these are very uncomfortable to hold. But I have large hands. My wife, Anne can easily hold it in the "Tulwar style," with one finger outside the front of the guard on the false edge of the blade. |

If you have a look at the link provided by Denee you can see the remains of the scabbard that belongs to my smaller one. The basket work appears very similar to yours, even down to the decorative "gap". Nice to see some more of these. regards Royston |
