Hi Lew,
as you know, there have, and will be, a good number of these daggers on eBay, many of which are (or almost) identical. Most seem reasonably well made, although the blades look 'suspect'. Yours is a version that I have not seen before, the handle design/decoration is 'different' to the other (mass produced ?) types. Hopefully, the blade quality will be good. Perhaps this suggests it was made for the 'Toureg' market ...rather than the tourist ... David |

You find piles of these in any souq in Morocco and other surrounding country. Most of these are not even made in country but are imported from china.

I consider them to be "pieces made for turists", as I have also seen them in piles in turistic centre Djerba (Tunisia), in Tunis (capital) and in Tripolis (Libya). You can, buy it in handicraft shops in hotels, there, too. Sorry and regards, Martin

Martin I am sure this is a tourist piece but I wanted it as a companion for my tokouba. When it arrives I'll check to see if it has Made in China on it Lew |

Hi Lew
that example you've just posted is the 'best' recently made Tuareg dagger that I've seen. The blade (even though it has a 'ground' fuller) especially. Assuming the blade is tempered and hardened, a very nice piece.....a bit pricey though David |
