Default Garab / Talibon for comment.

This is my first sword of the year, a Filipino talibon.

It measures 22 3/4" overall, with a 18 3/4" blade that's apparently ~5mm thick. It looks somewhat older than my first talibon: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2292 is WWII or thereabouts a likely date? Earlier/later?

All comments most welcome.

Well Katana you apparently know something - I agree it is WWII or perhaps a slight bit earlier (1930s).

Hi David, that's usually what I say when I pass up on goodies from your side of the pond.

Battara, I'm glad you both agree on the date. The last talibon I had was also around 5mm thick, how thick can these blades get?

All the best,
Emanuel

Hi Manolo, I'm sure Jose can answer your question about blade thickness on these weapons better than I could but just thought I would add that I have a couple that have 7 & 8mm thick blades and have seen one that was 10mm thick at the grip.
