A lot of kind of puasas/fastings: mutih/whitening[?], ngalong/(as if a fruit-eating bat), ngrowot [as if a cassava-eating animal], ngebleng [uneating for the whole night and day and hiding from sunligh], ets.
Perhaps, the hardest puasa/fasting is NGRAME [whatever you do is to serve for the goodness (other people, other creatures, nature etc) without any hiden agenda]. why do your friend mutih fasting since 1st of Suro during njamasi/bathing pusaka? the should be a purpose behind? warm salam, OeS |

Mas Raden, during njamasi period it's normal that in order to strengthen the angsar and also in order to treat exactly how the keris was bathed by the original empu, we have to white fast (mutih).
