Default Old Moro barung -- Samal?

Old Moro Barung circa 1900. I purchased this barung in its present state after it had already received a vigorous etch to demonstrate a laminated construction of the blade and a differentially tempered edge, which shows as a black line running from tip to hilt. The hilt has a long and elegant appearance that is sometimes associated with the barung from the Samal people of the Sulu Archipelago. The silver punto has a dark patina and I have left it unpolished for those who like the "aged" silver look. If you don't like the antique oxidation, a quick clean will restore it to shiny new silver. The banati pommel is a minimal kakatua, and there are a couple of minor age cracks and small chips as often seen on these older barung. No scabbard with this one.

Price $290 plus SHI

Ian.
