Default Kilij and Yataghan: overcleaned?

Absolutely gorgeous Yataghan and ordinary but adequate Pala ( Kilij):

Usually, these types of blades come with rather profuse inscriptions; there are none here. Do you think the blades were overcleaned?
Also, the Damascus pattern of the Yataghan blade: we discussed "accidental" damascus pattern in regard to other blades.

The bottom-line conclusion was that some blades were not meant to be etched ...
Do you think this is what happened here?

The patterning on the Kilij looks 'strange' and seems to have 'raised' contours, including some 'longitudinal lines '
Parts of the blade appear 'laminated' Mixed billets on one blade

I'm thinking the raised edges are due to the etching.

Also it is possible that the blades were cleaned to the point of taking everything off to make the blades shiney - a Victorian and American collectors tendency. Later the dealer may have had what was left of the blades re-etched.
