Interesting piece, I like the somewhat primitive, blacksmith-made look. Given the chisel edge, heavy blade and thick spine, it was probably intended as a specialist tool rather than a weapon. For downward chopping cuts through thick material that were required to produce a vertical edge on one side.
The best I can think of is a knife for thatching. Looking over the internet here are some examples of thatching knives. |
