I have a similar knuckle / hand guard on one of my swords.
Totally different blade.

IMHO this is not an original sword, it is assembled from different parts in Southeast Asia.

Nice IOD89 Ed, they’re a pretty solid sword IMO. More interesting than what follows into the WWII era.

I’m not sure if you know, most of these can be disassembled by unscrewing the pommel.

Here’s one I got my brother for his birthday:
