Default Malay Jungle knife?

I have just bought this Knife, these days I could not say it was expensive but to my mind not cheap either. I just liked the grip and elegant blade. Said to be overall 19 inches in length, so a big knife rather than a short sword. When I get it should I etch the blade or just clean it just short of polishing?

Hello Tim,

You got a Karo Batak kalasan with a sukul jering hilt. I would just clean the blade, the blades of kalasans don't show a prominent lamination.
Attached a picture of my two kalasan with an other Batak blade.

Regards,
Detlef
