Spunger, I think the weave is, 2 sets of 3 strands of rattan(totaling 6), opposite each other. As they go around the hilt, one set goes up on one side the other goes down the opposite side, you need four sets of hands totaling 8. Don't get them tangled up (the hands), if it doesn't work try again. It's very easy, anyone can do it, except me.
