Spunger, Here are a few photos of rattan wrapped hilts. AFAIK, these are original to the swords. Each of them wrapped differently, all intricate. I have shown some wrapping to basket weavers, to see if they could copy it, I haven't found one that could, one came close. Good luck in your project.

Nice set, the double pattern is often found using wire brass, copper or silver.

Are there instructions avaible how to weave bands for scabbards with rattan?

thanks for the pics. i like the one with MOP(?) handle weave. that's what i've been thinking of doing...

i was thinking about googling basket weaving, lol... the company's pretty reliable..
