Spunger, Here are a few photos of rattan wrapped hilts. AFAIK, these are original to the swords. Each of them wrapped differently, all intricate. I have shown some wrapping to basket weavers, to see if they could copy it, I haven't found one that could, one came close. Good luck in your project.

Nice set, the double pattern is often found using wire brass, copper or silver.

thanks for the pics. i like the one with MOP(?) handle weave. that's what i've been thinking of doing... henk, i was thinking about googling basket weaving, lol... the company's pretty reliable.. |
