Default Shamshir identification

Just got a new shamshir (for quite a bargain ) and was hoping someone could help me identify it's origin.
The handle makes me think persian but I think the wire wrapping is mostly found on arabic/bedouin or syrian hilts. The blade is fairly plain with no inscription whatsoever, and the right langet is bent in.
I've seen an extremely similar sword sold long ago on the ashokaa arts website called an omani shamshir, but it had a way more fancier sheath.
