Age of weapon ? It is not so easy because the scabbard is new and how old is the blade?...is it a replacement?...and how to date the hilt? A guess based on the hilt is virtually impossible but it wouldn't surprise me if it was continued from an older weapon... so then how to date it? My view not always shared by others is that the low grade silver may have been placed post 1949 … by Yemeni silver workers after the general exodus by Jewish craftsmen... thus perhaps the weapon was put together from parts about then... So how old is the weapon? I cannot say for sure. In its present form it may go back to 1949 … Further if the hilt was taken from another weapon.... So without a doubt I have absolutely no idea!
