For me personally, Dajak has provided yet another surprise/puzzle in that although I've not seen a Murut parang as such particularly the style of the handle, the example of the lad on the old postcard implies to be so. Again I'm scratching my head and if so I'd say these parangs would be extremely rare nowadays and not amongst the modern productions. My curiosity has been roused and I guess I'll keep my attention on until I see one. The stamp is postmarked with Sandakan, a town at the East coast of Sabah, once a capital of British North Borneo and where my wife comes from.
You're truely a great collector of Borneon stuff Ben! |

Great Parangs Ben and Kino!
Dajak, could you please also post the N Borneo spear as promised? The last Parang of yours is really interesting. The hilt looks like a Sangkit but the blade doesn't? I am also puzzled by the guard? Could it be a unique, one of a kind, Murut Pedang/Parang? Michael |

What lovely silver repousse on these pieces. I assume that they belonged to the chieftain/datu class, yes?
