that saber is from the batavian republic period 1795 - 1806, what is now the Netherlands. The lower brass part of the scabbard is not the Original. Kind regards Ulfberth |

It looks like Glen's remarkable instincts were well placed as always ![]() Is it possible that these swords, which do seem to have French character, might have been supplied via French makers, much as Solingen supplied so many armies of various countries? Hello Jim,
these swords were inspired by the French as the Netherlands followed the French revolution. It only seems logical that they had the same suppliers which was even more the case during the French Empire period.
