Hello Leif,

since nobody comment until now I will give it a try. I think that it is a Samal barong, 1900-1930 as age guess. The brass bands at the scabbard are not original and maybe much later. Would like to see better pictures when you have received it but I think that it is coated with some sort of varnish, maybe shellac. I don't think that the ferrule is from siver, could be white brass.
