I WOULD THINK IN MOST CASES THERE WAS NO INTENT TO PLACE ADVERTIZEMENTS, USURP COPYRIGHTS OR BREAK ANY LAWS. LAWS ARE OFTEN GOOD BUT IF EVERY LAW IN EXHISTANCE IS STRICKTLY ENFORCED IN ALL ITS MANY INTERPRETATIONS IT IS LIKELY ALL WE WOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO WOULD BE TO SIT IN THE DARK IN SILENCE.
ONE OF THE MODERATORS JOBS IS TO DECIDE WHERE THERE IS A POSSIBLE LEGAL PROBLEM AND WHEN IT IS UNLIKELY TO CAUSE PROBLEMS AND RESPOND APPROPRIATELY. I DON'T HAVE THE LEGAL KNOWLEGE TO MAKE SUCH DECISIONS AND NO DOUBT THERE ARE TROUBLE MAKERS WITH MORE KNOWLEGE WHO COULD BUMFUZZLE ME EASILY SO THEREFORE I AM NOT MODERATOR MATERIAL.
MODERATION OF MEMBERS , MODERATORS AND LAWS ARE THE BEST MIX TO KEEP THE FORUMS FUN, PRODUCTIVE AND FREE. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL.

one can watermark (and copyright) their own photo without using a website reference that advertises a commercial product.

i do it all the time, but sometimes forget here as i do not object to fair use of my photos here, but would object to their commercial usage.

for example: see my smart weapon photo attached.

p.s. remember the first rule is 'the moderators are always right'. the second rule is 'when in doubt, refer to rule one'.

Default no problem

no offense implied or thought you intended to break the rules.

i think we're just trying to explain what the rules are in different ways, so you can post your photos and also protect them. most of us (me included) have made the occasional oops when posting photos.
