Default Strange Dagger Arabian?

Dear All,

Could you help me with this dagger, jambiya?
38cm long, with nice metal work for scabbard and handle
The blade is probably wootz
I don't know if it is a 19th or 18th century work.
It looks really old I don't think 20th c.
The only similar examples that I found are from South Arabia,
may be a kind of Dharia?
But the work is really nice and looks Ottoman...
The seller said Morocco...
And he had a lot of things from Syria too...
Thanks for your help

Regards
Kubur

Yes a Dharia IMHO. Likely Asir/Hijaz regions of modern day western Saudi Arabia. Definitely not from Morocco. Age likely midish 20th century.
A very nice piece......well done!
Pics below of similar hilt and scabbard styles from my collection, also here is a link to earlier thread on Dharias. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=17574

Thank you very much Khanjar!

Yes they look similar,
especially with the flowers in relief attached to the handle and scabbard.
But I found on Internet a dagger who looks very similar to mine in the decoration.
In the description they say Ottoman Jambiya 19th c...
Would you consider that it could be an Ottoman prototype?
There is still a small mystery to solve...

K.

The two daggers you show are IMHO Kurdish.

Hello,

Kurdish in shape, but not really in style.
For me both daggers are Ottoman, probably produced for local market, Kurdish and Arabian.
I don't think the dagger is from the 20th, i think 19th.
I would like to have more comments about this.
I attach a picture of David Robert with a guy wearing a dharia.

Best wishes
K.
