The only thing I have to add to JT's and Andrew's comments is that the handle might be a tin alloy (like pewter). It is called "Bakka" tine, or "Baga" tin, or something like that. It is a common material for pots, dishes, etc. in SEA, and is pretty hard.

yeah ive seen the similar pommel too, on those ebay swords. but this sword is different, in the pommel with the mouth being more representitive of idol statues i remember seeing somewhere (probably on tv) , and the complete handle design and blade are also not like those wooden ebay swords. this sword didnt come with its original sheath either, so i couldnt tell you about that. there are no markings indicating the maker(no script*). i want to know where this influence came from .. the pommel and blade combonation. if its another cheap ripoff or if is kosher. its one of the nicer made swords i have(i have 2 cheap ripoffs) and this sword takes some damage... you could definatley chop down some trees with it and it wouldnt break. and i got it from a nazi sword guy, he told me he got his swords overseas, but i didnt ask about this one in particular, seeing as how it was the only one without a swastika on the handle or blade- and i thought he wouldnt know too much about it. i dont think he particularly decided to purchase off ebay. and the stain of rust is deep. very very deep. i would say about 1/20'' deep. im thinking its about 50 or 60 years old.. (i re rusted it on a single spot for 2 weeks and the rust didnt even appear on the blade) so it must have been laying on a wet ground for while unatended to. well i dont know what else to say bout it .. like i said , if you guys know anything else just lemme know ... oh the blade isnt very magnetic, and the handle isnt at all .
