Wow, thank you very much Lew! This is the best compliment you can give me! You have to know that I read your threads every time with great interest because I think you have an excellent taste by your purchases.
And thank you for confirming that it is ivory.

Best,

Detlef

Yesterday I also received this dagger. Lew, be happy that the seller don't want to ship to the States, otherwise you will have now the problem I have.

One piece from the ivory handle is chipped what the seller don't show by his pictures and also don't mentioned in his description. Have written him already but don't get response until now.
Otherwise is the dagger really nice so I don't know what I shall do now. What do you think?

Detlef

I can make the damage to the hilt on his auction although not as stark as your photo his is dark so it is hard to see but I see it. Must have missed that usually I copy any under exposed pic and pump up the midtone brightness when I see this type of dark picture. That way any hidden flaws can be seen . You have a choice of leave alone or sand it smooth or return it.

Still no response from the seller but have decided to keep the dagger like this. Have cleaned the ivory handle and it shows a nice natural grain.
