I'm gonna go with newer, it is not wootz but pattern welded damascus steel. $4k imo is lots of cheddar for this item.

Good catch as always Alex.
Signes of etched 'grey' even under the hilt scales, no wear, no oxidisation, no patina etc. But very nice work on the blade. The day is nearly here when pattern welded blades will all be suspect. |

reminds me of this current indian made one for around $549.50 (plus $18 to sharpen it) i've been considering buying. they have a few in stock.
![]() even comes with a nice scabbard. shipping from the USA is a bit steep tho. guess the tidbit of koftgari adds a few thou... |
