Probably "male bamboo" is what you are after, ie solid with no air pockets or voids between the "knots". It was the official material for Brit. Raj lance shafts, but even then was so hard to get regularly that ash was allowed as a substitute.

I was told bahi wood or kamagong wood is more traditional so I would search the Internet for 6ft staff in either wood. PMA supplies has a kamagong staff that should fit the bill
