@eftihis: The helmet on ebay is a kind of Cabasset helmet, very popular dissign in Europe during mid of 15th century till 16th century, used by solders and guards. Unusual is the material, they were mainly iron (or only the iron ones survived) Extremely rare item.
@athena: Very nice piece, but is it realy a helmet, or rather a cask cover of some kind? |

I do not think this is any older than the late 19th century, and is one of these. Still a nice thing to have, if a little heavy on the hongo.
