I think it is fake damascus, ie wax resist process.
Am I very wrong?

I agree, wax resist a.k.a acid etch method. Interesting that the pattern was applied even on the blade top/ridge. The repetitive uniform pattern is present, and it lacks circular distortions and random swirls which would be at least some in true Damascus.

Agreed, it is acid etched but a pretty good job.
