Default Unusual Pedang with Turkish twistcore blade

This one has a number of unusual features. Overall, the form is pedang but the hilt is atypical as it appears classic Bali or Lombok. The second unusual feature is the blade. It is an imported Turkish Yataghan blade which sports a nice 5 row twistcore. The ensemble has been together a very long time. I am aware of one other Turkish yataghan blade in Indonesian mounts. I am curious about the Indonesian/Turkey connection, if any. And also the unusual hilt.

Hello,

I remember reading that in the 1500s Suleiman the Magnificent sent military aid to the Aceh Sultanate in his fight against the Portuguese. Maybe a bit early for the classical yataghan blade, but this shows that Ottoman imports are possible.

What A nice puppy. IS the grip silver and gold? IT is chased and filigree with a possible gold wash. Love the rows of twistcore.

Thumbs up

VERY INTERESTING AND ATTRACTIVE. CONGRADULATIONS. PERHAPS SOME GREEK INFLUENCE IN THE DESIGN AS THE ONES ON THE GOLD COLORED FITTINGS LOOK LIKE OCTOPUS TO ME.
