Default Indian? Don't think so...

yet another old timer has decided to come live with me.
billed on ebay as a 'very old collectable indian sword'

does not look 'indian' to me, the decorations on the scabbard remind me of my flyssa, as does the guard construction. would i be wrong to ascribe this to a more north african setting?

Hello,

I was watching this one too. A nice Touareg dagger. Have a look at this thread http://vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=3758
and this one from the old forum http://www.vikingsword.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000106.html

It seems that these daggers may have started showing up around WWII, western Africa. Hausa, Touareg, lines are blurry...

Regards,
Emanuel

it's here,

14.25 in. double edged blade, 7/8 in. wide at the guard, 0.2 in. thick (5mm.) at the 1.75 in. long brass ricasso cover - this bit fits inside the scabbard, fits equally well either way around. blade is distal tapered to a needle point. some evidence of pattern in the steel, i may try a light etch to see if there is anything.

5.5 in. brass/copper/aluminum/wood or horn (?) grip, 1.5x1x3/4 guard in brass and copper,
scabbard is heavy copper with the single rear heavy copper hinged d-ring mount.

Really nice mate, I was seriously tempted to bid on that one.
I particularly like the copper scabbard!

I wondered if the blade was a reuse?
