After months of negotiations I have finally secured a new home for this 18thc kora. Excellent workmanship overall highlighted by the locket, chape, gold work on the blade and finial plus a finely embroidered carrying strap.

Gorgeous sword, congratulations. Was this a 'nobles' sword?a kings?I have seen so few koras with gold or silver on them I have to wonder if it was reserved for royalty.

Not a very nice but extremely nice Kora. Most beautiful blade and elegant sacabbard, a treasure piece on any collection, it is worth months of negotiation indeed. If you are posting more pictures please include some blade details. Any provenance information on this well preserved piece?. Congratulation.

Congratulation, it is a real beauty, and the condition it is in, being that old is fantastic.

These highly adorned koras were no doubt owned by royalty or military commanders. The o/a length is 26" with the blade and hilt representing very high quality, but the wrapping on the grip is the same found on a common soldier's model. I have no provenance on this piece and can only trace it back two owners.
