			Dear members, I just received this persian khanjar, A large example of better quality than the ones I saw already. 19th century ?? Length is 50cm / 19,7 inches The blade can be wootz. For share and for comments Kind regards |

			Yes, Persian 19th century almost certainly wootz. It could benefit from revealing the wootz structure. It could also be Mughal (the Moghuls were Persians). |

			Here a complete picture of the dagger, Thank you Marius, I will try to etch it to see how it looks like . I'm impressed with the scabbard and hilt too, the iron/steel seems hand carved /embossed and not cast or ' pressed'' + nice gold koftgari on it |

			To me, that doesn't look like koftgari but more like true damascening. Be very careful when polishing the blade for etching! Avoid polishing the carved areas. Do polish to 2000-3000 grit and do not try to remove any pitting as it does not impact the end result too much. Lovely dagger! 👍 |
