Dear all,
I just acquired this heavy (2,1Kg) comb morion. It is made from one piece. There are two marks on the rim - one I think is Nürnberg, the other a makers mark "HM"(?). I cannot find that in my humble literature. This anyone of you have an idea? Kind regards Andreas |

The "HM" mark is to be found in "European Arms and Armour" in the catalogue of the Wallace Collection, but unfortunately without the name of the Nuremberg smith wjo made this helmet for the Saxon Guard.

The mark is identified as the one of Hans Michel, Nuremberg 1539-1599. He also produced morions for the Saxonian guard
