Default Unknown dagger

Hello everybody,
I need your help to identify a dagger. Maybe you can tell me from which region it may come from. I guess itīs quite old by the look of the sheath although itīs in a good condition. The leather straps are already broken once as old leather does.
The dagger itself is about 10 inches from point of blade to end of handle. The blade itself from point to handle is about 6 inches. The "fitting piece" (? between blade and handle; sorry, bad english ) is made of what looks like silver with engraved zick-zack lines and stars on it. The decoration on the handle seems to be silver, too.
(Iīm sorry for the bad pictures but Iīve got no digicam...)
Thanks a lot!

Hello Jeez,
Your dagger is from Africa, south western sahara. The northen desert regions of the countries that were established from the West African trade coast. They can be daggers like yours or short swords to ones made from full european sabre blades. These were and may still be used as a dress item as well as ones which are obviously intended as a weapon.
