think Tom's last comment explains it. what is interesting is the 1908 date for a very long blade, it has been suggested here that this blade is post WWII, clearly not.

To me this looks like a young boy mabe this is why the blade looks so big?And what about the burns to his face muzzle flash?

think the blade is at least 18"; he has a couple of bullet holes above his right eye, his eyes were likely covered with blood & they wiped them to take the pic. looks like a young adult

I dunno, at least the way Ive used blade length in my own estimation of ages, has been as a part in many other factors. Eg. long blade, aluminum fittings, center ridge scabbard, full rattan wrap, triangular crest, etc... then maybe post WWII. Larger blades definitely seem to have become more common over time (even just studying pieces made post 1900 we can see this), but of course that doesnt mean large blades did not exist in the past.
