Looks like it was forged from large bolt, or a threaded rod.

Thanks for replies so far. The owner has not given me dimensions but I have asked for these and will post when I get them. My estimate would be around 12" to 18" (300 to 450mm), and YES he says it looks to have been forged from a bolt or some similar item. He was also told by the person who sold it to him that it could have come from the Phillippines and could be a tourist item.
Just looking for some closure on this. In my opinion an interesting piece in any case.

It looks to me to be from Taiwan. You often see tourist Taiwan spear blades like this with the barbs. The ones that I have seen similar to this have a wood harft
carved with imaginary warriors, knives are available in the same style. It does not seem fine enough work for an African origin to me. Unless very very recent. Last edited by Tim Simmons; 13th November 2008 at 09:35 PM. |
