Default Maroccan Koummya dagger

I have this Maroccan Koummya dagger. The blade is about 2 mm thick; can anybody tell me if this is an original item or it's made for tourists.
Is the white metal silver or something else ?

Thanks

Question Aart's dagger:

Aart's dagger is pictured below. I have a similar example which appears to be brass with some German silver overlay...

I guess a question for the forum that we share is whether such a dagger is strictly tourist bazaar from a few decades back or whether it is a less affluent working man's version of the silver mounted ones?

90% of these that I have seen are 20th-21st century. There are piles of these is every souq in Morocco. They are made out of good silver, german silver, brass, camel bone etc. All different quality. The ones in the souq are all sold to the tourist trade, none of the local population actually wear these. The Koummyas with sterling silver are usually from the tiznit area or the the anti atlas region.
