Jens, were you bidding? My first experience with eBay's new "making it private" bidding.

I think that the offset handle and the wider blade at the distal end would make the balance 'top heavy' like an axe..so I think this unlikely to be used as a 'sword'.....definately a 'chopper'.....with the angle of the hilt set in such a way that a downward strike being the most favourable technique. A very nice object....and ..I feel....bought at a bargain price |

More Malabar, than an Adya Katti, but you know, the line between the two types is thin... I've bid on that as well (in fact I've thought thatone to be a sleeper), but got slightly overbid... Congratulations to the buyer, You've got a very nice piece! Last edited by Valjhun; 19th December 2006 at 09:20 PM. Reason: mistake |

Very unusual for a weapon to have this many variants........ There's ones with forward curves, with backward swept blades, ones with sickle-like ricassos, and some with plain handles that look suspiciously Moro.... The floor is open. |

Well, Joe, there really is nothing Moro about this, though you have a good point about so many variants.

Hi Bill this happends to us all it is sometimes difficult buy from the picture even if you get no respond to see more pics that should be a reason not buying it. ( for me a reason for don t buy it) Better buy from someone you can return it if you don t like it . (pay a little more and no headache) Ben |

Thanks, guys, please see this thread for better pics. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...3825#post39159 Maybe I am just feeling a bit moody today. Had some business problems. One of my rental houses burned. No injuries. Don't mean to take it out on this seller if the piece is worth having. And Dajak, you are absolutely right. Dealers like yourself have excellent quality and good return policies. |

Well, Mistuh Marsh. Havin' looked at the pitchers, I de-clahr you are cettingly hard to please! (That's my best imitation of Scarlett O'Hara, just to cheer you up ) Sorry to hear about your loss ( the house), but nobody was hurt and that's the main thing. As to the Malabar/Adya Katti... I see nothing wrong with it. Looks like a very nice piece and for a very good price. I would view it as Santa's present to a good boy Happy New Year! |

Thanks Ariel, for your delightful rendition of our First Lady, Miz Scarlett, Suh! (BTW Margaret Mitchell was married to a relative and her full name was Margaret Mitchel Marsh.) I know that the piece is not a Moro Barong. Maybe it is a good Malabar / Adya Katti. Maybe I should quit complaining and just get around to enjoying the New Year, (and hopefully the Insurance Money on the fire. When and If I get it.) I am very glad that no-one was injured in the fire.
